EnABLING YOU TO COMMIT TO CHANGE
Coaching

Feel like you need a habit coach?

Because you struggle with commitment? Maybe because you’re feeling a bit lost and disorganised at the moment and need some kind of direction. Maybe you’re trying to resolve an ongoing issue but it doesn’t seem to be working out in the long run. You might feel stuck because you find it challenging to commit to what matters to you when difficult things show up.

Often this is because over time you subconsciously have learned to:
Distract
Lack of direction and structure, feeling lost, difficuly staying focused, having too many tabs open, time blindness, spending time on the wrong things, being indecisive, giving in to impulses, or finding it hard to prioritise your options because you feel so caught up in everything.
Give up
Not doing the things you used to love anymore because you have tried and failed to often, feel like there is no point and now the confidence is missing. You just don't feel like you can trust yourself anymore and need accountability to stop putting important things off.
Overthink
Thinking your way out of things you used to enjoy, finding excuses not to follow up on things, ruminating and worrying to the extent it is not helpful. Generally having a busy brain, lack of focus or an unhelpful flow of thoughts.
Over-rely on
Over-eating, over-drinking, over-sleeping, or not enough to (temporarily) deal with the issue but it's not working out. Excessive use of caffeine, tobacco or other substances also falls within this category.
None of these coping strategies are inheritable bad or 'wrong', as it all depends on the context. But what is important is to notice when these habits are workable for you and when they are not. Is what you’re doing working to give you the sort of life you want, in the long term? If that’s a yes, then it’s workable, so there is no need to change.

And if the answer is no, a life coach and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) practitioner can help you identify, learn you new skills and help you commit to alternatives that may work better for you. Alternatives that do make more sense in the long run, because committing to these actions will help you build the sort of life you want.

I can honestly say that attending coaching sessions with Nick has been the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.

He has provided encouragement, clarity and focus to help me understand, and most importantly, accept myself. Friends have noticed the positive transformation in me, I feel better in myself than I have for a very long time and I’m looking forward to continuing this exciting journey with all that I have learned, and will continue to learn, through the fascinating concept of ACT.

His background as both a behavioural therapist, and as an outdoor instructor really resonated with me, and I have just signed up for another six sessions.

These sessions have been much more value to me than the in-person therapy that I have had before, so don't let distance stop you. We have been working through some ACT therapy, which has been really helpful in learning how to manage life with ADHD for me. His sessions are also very reasonably priced.

Nick was absolutely amazing from start to finish. I can honestly say its changed my life for the better.

Heaving dealt with self-doubt, stress, guilt and so many other negative feelings throughout my personal and work life, I have now learned how to deal with those thoughts and feelings appropriately and sometimes even in a fun way!
Nick was just so down to earth, listened and helped. Explained everything so well for me and gave me all the time I needed to take it in. I couldn't have asked for a better coach!

Benefits of a habit coach

The Habit Coach is run by Nick Rothengatter, an ILM Level 5 qualified and experienced life coach and trained ACT practitioner.

The combination of using coaching models with ACT implies you will have an experiential and evidence-based form of behavioural coaching. It’s not just talking about your problems and feelings. The idea is you and I work together as a team, to start building the sort of life you want to live.

If you decide to work with me, you’ll develop greater self-awareness and will be more in control over your actions, your behaviour. Making it more likely you make more helpful choices, even during the difficult moments. This way, you work towards a life that holds value for you in the long-run.

The best way to do this is the same way you would learn to ride a bike, by practicing skills until you can do it on your own. In general, as the sessions continue, you’ll start to develop a set of psychological skills that promote well-being and emotional regulation. This will enable you to move more flexibly towards the life you want. You'll be able to develop and sustain more positive habits, growing your discipline and commit to goals you find important.

Every time you leave the session I want you to come away with it an extra tool to your toolkit. A practical technique that is easy to apply and helps you to make a positive difference in your life. These tools will be provided using a state-of-the-art and practical app called PsychFlex (released August 2023), so you can also access and practise these tools outside the coaching sessions.
